The feng shui
bagua map.

The bagua is a grid of nine areas — wealth, fame, love, family, health, children, knowledge, career, and helpful people — that a room or home is divided into. Tap any area to see what it represents.

For entertainment and cultural interest only. The bagua map is a traditional belief system, not advice about your wealth, health, relationships, or luck. Our room planner is based on geometry; this page is here for curiosity.

Black Hat method: turn this so the bottom row lines up with the wall your main door is on. No compass needed.

What is a bagua map?

The bagua (“eight areas”) is a three-by-three grid that feng shui lays over a home or a single room, dividing it into nine zones. Each zone is tied to a life theme, a trigram, an element, and a set of colours. It is one of the best-known ideas in feng shui, which is why so many people search for a feng shui bagua map.

Two ways people line it up

The Black Hat (BTB) method shown here needs no compass: you stand in your main doorway looking in, and the bottom row — Knowledge, Career, Helpful People — sits along that entry wall. The Classical method instead uses the compass direction the building faces. The BTB version is the friendliest for a quick look, so it is the one this interactive map uses.

Using it with your real room

Because the bagua depends on where your door is, it pairs naturally with a floor plan. Draw your room in the custom room-shape planner, note which wall your door is on, then picture this grid with its bottom row on that wall. Keep it light

Treat the bagua as a fun lens for thinking about a room, not a set of rules with real-world outcomes. The parts of bedroom layout that genuinely affect comfort and safety — bed placement, door swing, walking space — are what our geometric bedroom planner is built to check.
